Maiden Night!
I dl'd the Maiden last night, and my air raid siren is tuned up. Can't wait to jam on some tunes and scare the neighbors.
Brian and I decided last night that the local Chinese place pretty much sucked. We still have the options of mexican, pizza, sandwiches or anything we want to drive a ways for.
See y'all then!

Friday the 13th Dinner
Hey all!
At RCRG last weekend Christy and Herb asked if they could bring the main course for Friday dinner. I asked what it was (Jambalaya) and had no problem giving them the thumbs up. I have asked many of you in person if you minded and I can honestly say that once I reached majority it was pretty obvious that we could put off Fondue for a week.
I overheard them discussing ingredients and it sounds like we are in for a treat!

Potential Satellite Member's Recipe
Good Morning FNDC members,
At last dinner there was a motion put up for discussion as to whether an interested party and blog follower from the UK could become the first "satellite" member. Several requirements were thrown out as prerequisites before a formal vote could be taken. One of those was "What would he propose for dinner"? First requirement for entry satisfied below:
Right then do this for next Friday night’s meal Recipe below will probably serve around 8 people
Ingredients:
1kg good quality beef mince
2 large onions – finely chopped
4/5 cloves of garlic – finely chopped
3 large peppers – one of each colour (red green yellow or orange) – finely chopped
4 red/green chilli’s – finely chopped – I don’t de-seed them but you may wish to
2 finger chilli’s / bird eye chilli – finely chopped – I don’t de-seed them but you may wish to
2 tins chopped plum tomatoes
1 glass of red wine
Half a tube tomato puree
A very generous squeeze of tomato sauce (one of my secret ingredients!!)
A good few drops of Worcestershire sauce (another of my secret ingredients)
2/3 drops of ‘Ultimate Insanity’ chilli sauce (very very very hot – this stuff is lethal !!) WARNING AVOID CONTACT WITH EYES AT ALL COST !!!!
2 tins of kidney beans
2/3 chunks of quality dark chocolate (acts as a flavour enhancer)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Method:
Place the mince in a large pan and cook through in it’s own fat, when cooked drain off the excess fat and then add the onions and garlic. Once the onions have cooked add all the other ingredients and cook on a low heat for as long as you want !! minimum ¾ hour stir occasionally to prevent it sticking to the bottom of the pan.
Serve with wild rice and garlic bread – ENJOY
You can sprinkle with grated cheese if you want especially if you find it too hot !!
This will improve on day 2 even if frozen on the day it’s cooked.
Now then I’ll have to work on the piccies but you already have the ones I’ve got

Dean, you are so funny with this latest video. Public hugging is taking on a new meaning for me. I used to be emabarrased to have people hug me (coming at me and you don't know whether to lean left, lean right, chest in, butt out, whatever . . . I would try to dodge hugging at all costs. I won't even kiss my own mother on the lips . . . oops . . . where did that come from?) Anyway . . . NOW . . . I really want to go to Amsterdam for all those free, no strings attached hugfests. I suppose that QFC on Friday nights will have to suffice until my next European trip commences. Your "hug pal", Karen

Stacy's potato salad part two
Here is part two of Stacy's potato salad.
Remember it is very Important to taste the salad the next day as all the flavors will meld and it will be more bland.
So you might need to ad either vineger or mustard or sweet pickle juice to bring back the flavor carfull with the vineger and the sweet pickle juice if you add too much the salad will get runny.

Here is a wine pairing.
Here is a wine pairing from the chart posted previously in the blog
Bordeaux Wine Information
The region of Bordeaux, France is largest region of wine growing in the world. Bordeaux is made up of five main districts - Medoc, St. Emilion, Pomerol, Graves, and Sauternes. While Medoc and the entire region are best known for their reds ("Clarets"), white wines also have their place. Graves creates dry whites, and Sauternes is known for its sweet whites.
When people just say "bordeaux wine", they typically mean the classic red blend. The red Bordeaux are created with Cabernet Sauvignon, often blended with Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The color tends to be a garnet/ruby shade. The flavor is typically a light one, with blackberry, black fruits, wood, and other notes. A classic Bordeaux is said to have a "cigar box" aroma to it.
Graves, the dry whites, are made by blending mostly Sauvignon Blanc with a small amount of Sauvignon Gris. Sauternes, the sweeter whites, are made with Sémillon, Sauvignon and a drop of Muscadelle.
There are many levels of quality of wine grown in Bordeaux, so for the 1855 Exposition Universelle de Paris (sort of like a World Fair) Napoléon III asked a panel to break the region's wines down by price (therefore, hopefully, quality as well). These classifications of 1855 were never meant to be an official quality roster.
The classifications were grouped by region within Bordeaux, and remain mostly unchanged even today.
Bordeaux is divided by the Gironde River and Garonne River. To the west, or "left bank", contains the capital city of Bordeaux. The Left Bank is the more well known of the two banks. It contains Medoc, Graves, Margaux, Pauillac, and Pessac-Léognan.
To the east, or "right bank", is Pomerol and St-Émilion. In the middle of the two is the Entre-Duex-Mers (between two seas) area.
So a Cab/Merlot blend would be good.

Ideas for next friday
Paula had a great idea for friday and that was having breakfast for dinner. I had a few ideas and I will post them here.
Here is a yummy looking omelet but the ingredient may be a bit too spendy.
Or maybe this as a base omelet then we could have an omelet bar!
with lotsa different fillings
This might work better with an omelete bar so evryone could eat at the same time
check it out looks like fun.
I was also thinking of crepes' for desert
Then there are all the other things for breakfast like french toast, pancakes, hashbrowns (high carb), biscuts and gravy (yummy)
anybody have other ideas?

Another great dinner
Thanks all for another awesome dinner. The Shepherd's Pie was really tasty.
I was slightly hung over the next morning, so sorry I didn't make it to the next event!! I think I need to not stay so late at the dance next time. Whoa.
I'll bring another Basil Hayden's for next time cuz I put another dent in it.

Wine and Food Pairing Charts
Wine and Food Pairing Charts: "Wine & Food Pairings
Wine and Food pairings is an individual choice. Every person's sense of taste is different. In general, each person should decide for him or herself what combinations of wine and food taste good - don't worry about what anyone else says should work. However, I understand this is difficult when a wine drinker is just starting out. Hence, this listing.
Remember - these are only guidelines!! You will figure out quite quickly that your own tongue has its own idea of what goes well with what. Trust your own judgement, and eat and drink what you enjoy!"
